What is Marijuana – Hybrid Vs. Sativa Strain?
When it comes to what is marijuana and how does it affect your body, there is no clear cut answer to this question. With any strain of pot, there is no one size fits all definition which is used to label the different physical effects. Different strains can feel like a sativa for you and an indica for your neighbor hitting the exact same joint. For this reason it is difficult to define what is marijuana in layman terms.
When we talk about what is cannabis, we are typically referring to three main types:
Indica, Sativa, and hybrids.
Sativa is the oldest of the three and is the classic weed found on most gardens. The reason why it is called sativa is because it produces a sedative effect through the minds nervous system. This makes the plant a popular choice for medical marijuana strains. The sativa brain chemistry makes it highly desirable in the medicinal industry for treating such things as nausea, glaucoma, spasticity, and cancer.
The strain which produces the most desirable effect is the sativa-type strains.
Hybrids are cross between the sativa and the indica but are much milder and yield a more cerebral high. Indica produce a very powerful, albeit calming, high and are highly prized by enthusiasts. The hybrids are the most popular today, because they are just as powerful as the originals, but produce only moderate side effects. These include only the milder version of sativa but produce a more profound and relaxing high.
Some hybrid strains are so potent that they can act as an all-day marijuana substitute, or simply provide a comfortable way to get through the day.
One thing to keep in mind when comparing what is marijuana and hybrid strains, is that although indica production is more desirable and successful than sativa, there is a difference between potency and quality. Hybrids may be a little more potent than a pure indica, but they will also be free of the often troublesome side effects of the original sativa strain. While some strains can cause things like nausea, some can cause paranoia and agitation, which are completely unnecessary.
Which one you choose depends entirely on your own preferences. I personally prefer sativa over indica, mainly because I do not want to deal with the side effects that come with either type. If you have never tried what is marijuana and hybrid strains before, then the good news is that they are easier to find now than ever before.
Many stores now carry more than just the indices and hybrids, so if you wanted to try some of the lesser known varieties, you are likely to find them.
The debate as to what is marijuana and popular strains is something that continues today. My personal choice would be sativa strain. Hybrid plants are good for certain situations, but for others they just don’t work at all, either because of the unique combination of strains or simply because they are simply not well rounded. In the end, it’s all up to you!
